BIOGRAPHY
Drew Brophy lives to surf, paint and travel the world with his family.
He knew at a young age that he wanted to live a lifestyle where he could do what he loved and earn a living at it, so he committed to being a professional artist.
Drew is best known for his wild, crazy surfboard designs (he has painted thousands) but that is just a fraction of the artwork that he creates.
If you ask Drew what he does for a living, he’ll say “It’s my job to make thing look cool.”
Drew has been a professional artist for over 20 years, making his art available to many great companies to make things look cool, including tiki sculptures, skateboards, wakeboards, bikes, shoes, clothing lines and fabric designs.
He has also illustrated greeting cards, CD covers and children’s books, including Drew’s newly published book through Walter Foster titled HOW TO DRAW WITH DREW BROPHY.
Drew often will accept requests for commissioned paintings and special projects, as well as a limited number of “high-end concept” art designs that have transformed surfboards, guitars, motorcycles, cars, etc.
Occasionally Drew will exhibit his art at galleries in different locations throughout the world, particularly if it takes him someplace exotic with good waves!
Drew’s career is managed and represented by Son of the Sea, Inc. It is a family owned business run by Drew and his wife, Maria. Drew creates the art while Maria runs the business.
In an effort to make his art affordable for everyone, Drew strives to keep his print and painting prices reasonable. He also makes his art available on useful things like water bottles and t-shirts.
Every one of Drew’s products begins as an actual painting. New paintings are constantly being created, as Drew works hard to keep his product designs fresh.
To find out more about how Drew creates his artwork, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page, or just follow his blog. He often posts the process of his projects, and he’s willing to answer just about every question you want to ask.
