41 of 50 Paint Studies WEST REEF by Drew Brophy Dec 5 2015FOR 50 DAYS, I’M CREATING 50 PAINT STUDIES that reflect 50 things that fascinate me.

This is #41 of 50 in the #50Paintings Paint Studies series.  Only 9 left to go!

TITLE: West Reef

SIZE:  11″x 14″ paint pen on Fredrix Pro Archival Canvas Board.

West reef is about a half a mile off shore in San Clemente. It only breaks when there’s a giant swell.

I get so excited when I see the waves breaking out there.  The long paddle out is always worth it.

The water is very clear and it’s like surfing over a giant aquarium; you get to see many different kinds of fish and sharks.

West Reef is also one of the rare spots you get to surf alone.

Now, the big waves are coming and El Nino begins!

This painting study is available – SOLD to Scott A. from Henderson, NV, a collector of my art who owns many pieces. Stoked!.

One of my goals with this series is to make original art affordable for those who want it.   If interested in adding tomorrow’s to your collection, please email info@drewbrophy.com or text or call 949-678-8133 asap!

Huge waves are coming.

39 of 50 Paintings TAHITI REEF HOUSE by Drew Brophy Dec 3 2015FOR 50 DAYS, I’M CREATING 50 PAINT STUDIES that reflect 50 things that fascinate me.

This is #39 of 50 in the #50Paintings Paint Studies series.

TITLE:  TAHITIAN REEF HUT

SIZE:  11″x 14″ paint pen on Fredrix Pro Archival Canvas Board.

When I was in Tahiti a couple months ago, I paddled out to the contest scaffolding for the Billabong Pro, which sits on the reef right in front of the world famous surf break called Teahupoo.

How great would it be to live right there on the scaffolding?  You could spearfish off the edge and then surf out front.  If you needed something else you could paddle to shore, get on the bus and take it to town.  At night you could listen to the waves break while staring at the stars.  My dream life.

This painting study is available – SOLD to Tyler in PA.

38 of 50 Paint Studies CHASING WAVES WITH FUDO by Drew Brophy Dec 2 2015FOR 50 DAYS, I’M CREATING 50 PAINT STUDIES that reflect 50 things that fascinate me.

This is #38 of 50 in the #50Paintings Paint Studies series.

TITLE:  CHASING WAVES WITH FUDO

SIZE:  11″x 14″ paint pen on Fredrix Pro Archival Canvas Board.

Today’s painting is inspired by the idea of being on a boat, chasing waves, in far away places.

I added something different in the sky, inspired by my good friend Mark Longenecker (well known tattoo artist from Cocoa Beach, FL, and InkMasters TV Show star).

Mark was painting alongside me this morning, creating his own version of the Japanese Diety called FUDO.  So I added FUDO into my sky.

FUDO is said to convert anger into compassion and cuts the ties of negative feelings to liberate us from the suffering through self control.

This painting study is available – SOLD to Elsie in Mission Viejo, CA.

37 of 50 Paint Studies in 50 days - Electric Universe by Drew Brophy Dec 1 2015FOR 50 DAYS, I’M CREATING 50 PAINT STUDIES that reflect 50 things that fascinate me.

This is #37 of 50 in the #50Paintings Paint Studies series.

TITLE:  ELECTRIC UNIVERSE

SIZE:  12″x 12″ paint pen on Fredrix Pro Archival Canvas Board.

One of my hobbies is studying alternate theories in physics.

One of the theories challenging the Theory of Relativity is The Electric Universe.

It says that the Universe works on electrical principles; that energy is exchanged electrically, galaxy to galaxy, from the sun to the planets.

Everything is an electrical exchange.

TITLE:  INTERPLANETARY SPACE WAVE

SIZE:  9″x 12″ paint pen on Fredrix Pro Archival Canvas Board.

We were sitting outside by the fire in the backyard last night, looking up at the sky.  It was a waning full moon and the clouds were spinning around.  It looked like something was happening in the sky.

Every day I check in with the space weather update online, and it was reported that Saturn is going to be in alignment with the earth and the sun today

.  This painting is depicting the energy that gets released when Saturn lines up with the earth and sun.

When I was a little boy living in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I’d leave the house early in the morning with my 5 gallon bucket, net and fishing pole.

I’d be gone all day, and come home with oysters, clams, crabs, shrimp, flounder.

Every day was Thanksgiving at the beach.
