POSTER SERVICE INKS DEAL WITH SURF ARTIST DREW BROPHY

Poster Service, Inc., one of the largest poster manufacturers in the U.S. , has inked a deal with Drew Brophy to produce posters of Brophy's iconic surf and rock & roll art images for sale at retail.

 

Poster Service has rolled out the first phase of five posters of Drew Brophy's most popular images. They've designed a program to enable specialty retailers to easily display the posters and are priced to retail for under $12.00. New images will be added to the line periodically.

 

Drew Brophy's art prints had long been a strong selling item for retailers until 2003, when Son of the Sea ceased all manufacturing to focus entirely on licensing. Since then, a strong demand from retailers and fans has inspired Drew Brophy and Poster Service, Inc. to bring back the prints in the form of posters that are reasonably priced.

 

Maria Brophy, V.P. of Licensing, says of the arrangement with Poster Service and Drew Brophy: "Drew's fans and our former retail customers have been asking for these prints for a long time. I'm glad to be able to work with Poster Service to finally give them a quality poster at a good price. The retailers are happy, too."

Togo’s Launches Surf Art Tour Bringing the renowned works of Drew Brophy to California beaches

(San Jose, CA) July, 2006 – West coast sandwich chain Togo’s is returning to its roots in the sand with the introduction of the Togo’s Surf Art Tour featuring the works of world renowned artist Drew Brophy, whose surreal and lively artwork has added a new dimension to surf culture.

With a Volkswagen Vanagon decked out with Brophy’s work, the surf art tour will stop at beaches and sporting events up and down the California coast giving beachgoers a chance to see Drew Brophy’s artwork up close, and to try Togo’s new Bocana Beef sandwich. Beachgoers can even test out a surfboard by shaper Barry Vandermeulen.

A surfer and self-taught artist, Drew Brophy’s original works of art appear on surfboards, t-shirts, greeting cards, beach towels, fabrics, tattoos, skim boards and skateboards. A prolific artist, Brophy creates an average of 100 new pieces each year, and his custom painted surfboards are coveted by celebrities, musicians and art collectors worldwide. can sell for more than $10,000.

The Surf Art Tour is part of Togo’s return to its roots in the sand. Started in San Jose, Calif. by two surfers in the late 60’s, Togo’s was named for its owners Tom and Gordon. In 1971, the single sandwich shop was sold to Mike Cobler, a former San Jose State University student and entrepreneur who upgraded the menu and changed the name to ogo’s Eatery.
