Nobody Knows What We Are Doing and Indo Board Art Collab Press Release
Posted by Maria "Spunk" Brophyon Feb 9th, 2010 | Comments (0)
Drew and I went to the Action Sports Retailer (ASR) Trade show last week in San Diego. Like every trade show, you run into so many people that you haven’t seen in awhile - at least not since the last trade show.
We talked to friends that are retailers, manufacturers, photographers and writers. The first question most of these people asked was “What have you been up to, Drew? Got anything new going on?”
And we realized that we have been doing a lousy job of getting the word out on all the new things we have going on.
This year 2010 is going to be the best year we’ve ever had, in terms of strong partnerships and top quality products. And we haven’t really announced it! That changes right now…
Here’s the 2010 skinny on how hard we’ve really been working:
We have a line of Drew Brophy Converse shoes hitting Nordstroms and Journeys, a HOW TO DRAW WITH DREW book published by Walter Foster, new Indo Boards, a complete skateboard line through Palisades, wakeboards through Liquid Force and a deal with clothing company Hinano Tahiti.
So, to get word out as to what we’ve been up to besides a whole lotta nothing, we’ve decided that I’d better get back to doing press releases and blog posts.
Starting with the Indo Board collaboration, here’s the first press release that I’ve sent out in a long time. Be ready, I’ll be sending more!

Now you have a reason to buy a Playboy Magazine - It’s for the ART!
PLAYBOY MAGAZINE - JUNE 2009 ISSUE (best selling magazine in the world) features Drew’s painting titled “Voodoo Child” on the same page as Megan Fox.
The “Voodoo Child” painting is Drew’s version of his favorite guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, on a 10′0″ Surfboard shaped by Ron House. We sold this painting to the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas a few years ago, and it’s been one of the rare paintings on display there.

Orange Coast Mag Covers Surf Artists

Thanks to Jason Wallis, a photographer and surfer transplanted from New Zealand, some of the local Orange County Surf Artists got full page press with Orange Coast Magazine’s May 2009 Issue.
Artists shown in this photographic surf art feature include Rob Havassey, Drew Brophy, Ed Templeton, Rick Rietveld and Phil Roberts.
The artists were photographed by Jason Wallis on their own turf, and then given a copy of their photo to have their artistic way with it. It’s interesting to see what each artist did with their own photo……
You can pick up a copy of the Orange Coast Magazine’s May issue on newstands now!
