Last Saturday we held a “Draw with Drew” event and book release celebration party at San Clemente Art Supply.

It took many hours and some pocket money to put this on, because Drew wanted to create an awesome interactive presentation of art exhibit combined with art activities.

And of course, I felt it was important to have beer and juice boxes alongside some great food! (What, you’ve never heard of juice boxes at an art event?!)

Drew set up an awesome Art Exhibit of the artwork that was created for the book, including: A painted Surfboard, skateboard, wall o’ Sketches, Painted Guitar and a lot of other paintings and drawings used for the book.

Many good friends came to help us celebrate, while kids and adults (who act like kids) drew elements from the book.

Photographers who contributed to the book showed up, including Michael R Foley and Jason Wallis.

This event brought the making of this book project to a close, and now all we need to do is sell books!

SEMINAR / WORKSHOP LINE UP:

1.) HOW TO THRIVE AS AN ARTIST IN ACTION SPORTS SEMINAR:

Friday, Aug. 21 at 11:00 a.m. - In this seminar Drew and Maria Brophy will talk about how Drew became the most licensed surf artist in history. They will share their insights, experiences and philosophies on the business of art, and what it takes to be a successful artist in the action sports industry. Bring your questions!

This seminar will be helpful to freelance and commercial artists as well as emerging (new) and established artists. (LOCATION: The Seminar Area on the Show Floor)

2.) THE PAINT SHOP WORKSHOP:

Friday, Aug. 21 at 3:00 p.m. – Drew will give an interactive Painting Demonstration on a Camper Van, right there at Expo! He will discuss graffiti style spray painting, detailing with paint pens, composition, preparation and finish. The audience is encouraged to join in on the painting and ask questions. (LOCATION: Drew’s Exhibit area on the Boardwalk in SURF Section.)

3.) THE PATH OF AN ARTIST – A PERSONAL JOURNEY:

Saturday, Aug. 21 at Noon - Through an inspiring, colorful slide show, Drew will discuss beginning his art career as a young grom and the path from his first visit to Surf Expo to now, twenty years later. A true success story, Drew will reveal the best and worst decisions he’s made, and what he’s learned from it all. (LOCATION: Drew’s Exhibit area on the Boardwalk in SURF Section.)
