Ommmmm."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-finished-eagle-painted-by-drew-brophy.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3974\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3974\" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-finished-eagle-painted-by-drew-brophy\" alt=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-finished-eagle-painted-by-drew-brophy\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-finished-eagle-painted-by-drew-brophy-408x545.jpg\" width=\"408\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a>THE EAGLE HAS LANDED!<\/p>\n<p>It was an adventure, this Eagle painting.<\/p>\n<p>Drew thought he&#8217;d have it completely painted in 2-3 days.\u00a0 (It took 5.)<\/p>\n<p>(Drew figured if he can paint a van in one day, he could paint an Eagle in two&#8230;.)<\/p>\n<p>So, the lovely Noelle Quinn, owner of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hto.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HtO Surf Shop <\/a>(and sponsor of this Eagle for the Charity) \u00a0flew us up to Victoria for 5 days.<\/p>\n<p>We were sure that 5 days\u00a0would give us plenty of time for Drew to paint the Eagle,\u00a0and still have time to surf and explore this beautiful area of south west Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the layout of the adventure:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Being the outgoing artist that Drew is, he painted outside the shop on the sidewalk\u00a0for 3 days, talking to the many passers-by that stopped to watch and ask questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That slowed him down!<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3975\" style=\"width: 197px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-painting-while-noelle-of-hto-films.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3975\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3975\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3975\" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-painting-while-noelle-of-hto-films\" alt=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-painting-while-noelle-of-hto-films\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-painting-while-noelle-of-hto-films-187x250.jpg\" width=\"187\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3975\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Noelle, shooting Drew painting<\/p><\/div>\n<p>What also slowed him down were the curves of the Eagle, and the loads of detail that he decided to include in the painting.\u00a0 (It could have been simpler.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>By day 4, I started to worry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But Drew needed a break from working, so on the fourth day,\u00a0Mick took us on a drive in the middle of the day to show us the best surf spots in town.\u00a0 Turns out, the drive to and back was over\u00a05 hours!\u00a0\u00a0 (We lost some time on the painting, but well worth it.)<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3976\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-daytime-break-to-make-boats.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3976\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3976\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3976\" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-daytime-break-to-make-boats\" alt=\"Boats on the Beach!\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-daytime-break-to-make-boats-250x187.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3976\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Boats on the Beach!<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_3977\" style=\"width: 197px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-drew-painting.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3977\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3977\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3977\" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-drew-painting\" alt=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-drew-painting\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-drew-painting-187x250.jpg\" width=\"187\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3977\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Drew, Powering late into the night<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was great fun &#8211; we went to a few great beaches, we made boats then floated them and Noelle&#8217;s boat lasted the longest in the waves.\u00a0 (I was surprised at how cold it can be up there in the middle of June!)<\/p>\n<p>We got back to HtO Surf Shop about 8 p.m. \u00a0<strong>Drew was against the clock<\/strong>, as this painting HAD to be done by 10 the next morning.\u00a0\u00a0He said, &#8220;<em>I&#8217;ll have to power this out all night<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3978\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-mick-and-a-healthy-spread.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3978\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3978\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3978 \" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-mick-and-a-healthy-spread\" alt=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-mick-and-a-healthy-spread\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-evening-sesh-mick-and-a-healthy-spread-250x187.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3978\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mick and our midnight snack<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We brought wine and cheese and crackers to the shop, and we all hung out until Drew &#8220;hit the wall&#8221; about midnight.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning at 7 a.m.\u00a0Drew was\u00a0painting again, trying to\u00a0finish\u00a0before\u00a0we had to leave for the airport.<\/p>\n<p>He felt like he could have done more to perfect the painting, but we had to leave or we would miss our flight!<\/p>\n<p>Everyone at HtO was stoked, loved the painting, and it was another mad dash to the airport!<\/p>\n<p>Mick, being the Ozzie he is, got us there on time (what speed limit?) and he and Noelle saw us off.\u00a0 Whew, we made it!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3979\" style=\"width: 555px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-and-hto-crew.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3979\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3979\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3979\" title=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-and-hto-crew\" alt=\"eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-and-hto-crew\" src=\"https:\/\/drewbrophy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/eagles-in-the-city-finished-drew-brophy-and-hto-crew-545x471.jpg\" width=\"545\" height=\"471\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3979\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brophys and the HtO Crowd with the finished painting<\/p><\/div>\n<p>NOTES on the PAINTING:<\/p>\n<p>Drew designed the painting\u00a0to &#8220;go with the flow&#8221; of the shape of the eagle.<\/p>\n<p>He added in the &#8220;Om&#8221; symbol after the first day, when\u00a0a yogi chick stopped to admire the artwork and suggested that Drew include the Om symbol in his painting.<\/p>\n<p>The Om symbol represents the &#8220;<em>sound of everything<\/em>&#8221;
