Petrified Forest and Grand Canyon (Artist in Residence Programs Available)

nm-petDid you know that there are artist in residence programs throughout the U.S. State park system?

These programs provide a stay for artists to create their craft for a period of time.

Each program is different – some are for only a week (you can’t accomplish much in a week) and some are 2 or 3 weeks or more.

Drew and I discovered this gem of info while

visiting the Petrified Forest and the Grand Canyon.  We thought it would be great for Drew to spend some time in a beautiful natural wonder while creating a series of new paintings.

An Artist in Residence Program would allow him to paint without interuptions (there are so many in his studio).  And in my opinion, get him to stretch his artistic abilities by painting a new, different subject matter.

What was most inspiring to Drew on this last leg of our trip driving back from Surf Expo, was the SHEER VASTNESS OF AMERICA!

We live in one of the most populated places on earth, Orange County, California.  Sometimes we forget just how much land is uninhabited in this country.

Because we do so much traveling overrseas,we have forgotten what natural wonders we have right here in America.

Traveling in our Camper Van was so much fun, we forgot that we were driving so much.  Next time you are visiting Southern California, be sure to rent yourself a van from Escape Camper Vans.

Here are some photos from our unbelieveble trip:
