Surf Expo Rock Stars (Killer Display = Huge Success)

Surf Expo Rock Stars (Killer Display = Huge Success)

exhibit-case-at-surf-expoIt was a crazy busy 3 days at Surf Expo. We had 3 different events happening, and I have to admit, it was overly ambitious.

When we arrived, we expected the usual hustle getting set up. Instead, we got absolute ROCK STAR treatment from the Surf Expo people, and it was so easy setting up.

We are grateful to Roy Turner, Vicki Vasil, Josh and the rest of Surf Expo team for making us feel like royalty. I could get used to being a Rock Star……

THRIVE AS AN ARTIST SEMINAR

THRIVE AS AN ARTIST SEMINAR

When we gave our seminar, Drew and I were incredibly excited at the thought of getting up on that big stage and giving our talk to a full audience. We’ve given seminars before, but this was our first power point, on a big stage with a large audience.  And we did a great job inspiring the audience – I feel like we just graduated to another level.

Drew’s Art Exhibit was a Show Feature of Surf Expo, and our main purpose there was to showcase his artwork and demonstrate how Drew’s original paintings translate onto different products in action sports.

A bonus to being there:  We sold a HELL OF A lot of art prints and a few originals and surfboards – more than I had anticipated.

Here are some photos of some of the stuff that went down:

Drew’s parents and his sister, Andrea, and her husband Jackie and their 2 kids drove down from Myrtle Beach to watch Wiggs for us, and that was good, because the one day we took him to the show, he wreaked havoc!

There were many interesting characters that came to see us-Jay Alders, artist from NJ, Mark Longnecker, tattoo artist from Cocoa Beach, Rhett “Maddog” McMahn, journalist, bike & surfer, Dale Sause, longtime friend, William Wallace, sculptor artist, the list goes on and on…..

It was a lot of work getting ready for this Exhibit and our seminars, but well worth it.  We’ve decided, since we have to drive the Escape Camper Van back to LA from Florida, we will take our time and relax, and vacation and visit some friends along the way.  So keep checking in on us – we’ll keep you posted!

What a great week at the show. Maria, Drew, thanks for inviting me. I had an absolute blast. I got a great photo-collage of the hood painting from start to finish I will get them sized, zipped together and have them waiting when you guys get back. Enjoy the east coast, N.O. and the Grand Canyon. You guys Rock!

Your SL sponsored Reef Riders put four in the 2nd round at Mori Pawni, grabbed a podium, and all surfed in remembrance of our fallen Brother Blood, who passed real life while we were at the show.

Thank you for your hospitality, warm feelings, and support it is an honor to call you guys friends. Till we ride again! Rhett

PS. I have my pens out and am scribbling. Thank you Drew for both the lessons and inspiration to live the dream! You DO make things cool! Maria your hard work has made people aware of just how cool! Aloha to you both! ::MD::

Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture…Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.
