Our new clients, Yogurt Wave, came to Drew for help creating a cool atmosphere in their new store.

The owners, Kerry and Tommy, envisioned a fun spot where action-sports minded kids would want to hang out.

Drew was their man to make it happen with his vibrant, energetic artwork. First they commissioned Drew just to paint a 46′ wall mural for their location in Costa Mesa, CA. But as we started working on the sketches, they then asked Drew to re-create their logo for them.

Pipeline Wall Mural by Drew BrophyDay 3 – Drew & Heather started working on the details of the mural, the details of the waves, the whitewater and the plants.  They used a lot of sponges, small brushes & glazes.

Painting a mural is a building process, so it will, as Heather says, go through it’s “ugly phase”.  But it will all come together towards the end.

But time is running out – they need to be done by Friday, and like all big projects, everything is taking longer than expected.  Will it be done on time?  We’ll find out!  Click here to see photos of today’s work: (more…)

Drew & Heather painting a wall muralDrew was commissioned by North Shore Systems to paint a 36′ wall scene of Pipeline, one of Drew’s favorite surf spots on the North Shore of Hawaii.  Heather Ritts, fellow San Clemente artist, is helping.  It should take about 5 days to paint.

Preparation:  Meeting with the owner & talking about what he wanted, then there was a series of sketches, and once the final sketch was approved, then the work on site began.  Day 1:  Prepping the wall (cleaning up any holes, smoothing out the surface, etc.)  (more…)
