Most designers start with their computer –

This video from THE PAINT SHOP shows you how it’s done from the Design Phase to the Painting to the Finished Product:
NEW ORLEANS – OUR FIRST TIME THERE!
Bourbon Street is no place for kids, but we took Wiggs anyway. That’s the difficulty with traveling across country with children – there’s no one to watch them while you’re out partying!
The vibe on Bourbon Street is HIGH ENERGY.
Bar after bar with live music lining the street, loud drunks meandering down old craggy sidewalks, and the smells of beer, puke and flowers intermingle in the air.
No Brad sightings, but plenty of (more…)
After Surf Expo, we went straight to the East Coast to try to catch a little of that swell from Hurricane Bill, before (more…)
It was a crazy busy 3 days at Surf Expo. We had 3 different events happening, and I have to admit, it was overly ambitious.
When we arrived, we expected the usual hustle getting set up. Instead, we got absolute ROCK STAR treatment from the Surf Expo people, and it was so easy setting up.
We are grateful to Roy Turner, Vicki Vasil, Josh and the rest of Surf Expo team for making us feel like royalty. I could get used to (more…)

We gave ourselves 4 days to get to Florida for our SURF EXPO ART EXHBIIT, but powered on day 2 and made it to Destin, Florida (the panhandle) on Day 3.
So we were able to relax for a day and enjoy the Emerald Coast – sugar white sand, warm waters, oh, and a tropical storm overhead!
Almost ran out of gas somewhere in Louisiana – (more…)
Every person we told that we were driving to our Surf Expo EXHIBIT from California to Florida said “Wow, that’s crazy”.
We started to realize, too late, that maybe we made a mistake committing to this drive.
But, in typical Brophy fashion, we said, (more…)
Professional Surfer Tanner Gudauskas called and wanted Drew to paint Eddie from Iron Maiden onto one of his surfboards. Being a big Iron Maiden fan himself, Drew was stoked to do it.
I had never met Tanner, though Drew’s always talked about the Gudauskas family and how talented and cool they are. The three Gudauskas brothers, Tanner, Patrick and Dane are all excellent surfers, and they have parents that seem to fully support them in everything they do.
When Tanner came into the office, I got to meet him for the first time. And I realized what makes this guy so likable – he’s a ball of positive energy, smiling big, very happy, just stoked on life! Being around someone like that, even for a few minutes, tends to rub off on you and when he left our office, I was energized with those positive vibes!
Here’s the progression of the board painting. Drew cranked up Iron Maiden the entire time he painted it, which drove me crazy. I finally made him put on his headphones so I could think without heavy metal blaring.
When the painting was done,
I thought how strange it was for such nice guy like Tanner to want something so GNARLY on his board! But, I guess even really nice guys have some skeletons in their closets…..
Keep an eye out for Tanner – he’s a San Clemente surfer that’s definitely destined to go somewhere big with his surfing. And he can throw some huge airs.
