We gave ourselves 4 days to get to Florida for our SURF EXPO ART EXHBIIT, but powered on day 2 and made it to Destin, Florida (the panhandle) on Day 3.
So we were able to relax for a day and enjoy the Emerald Coast – sugar white sand, warm waters, oh, and a tropical storm overhead!

The Waves Came – and they were BIG. Just in time for Drew’s 38th birthday. His first surf at Indicators was super – the waves were triple overhead and FAST. He was having the best surf of the trip, until….. (more…)

Drew took some heat from “surfing purists” for the last stand-up paddleboard video that was posted. Just to show him regular surfing, here is a video from a recent trip to the Mentawai Islands.

But look at the joy on Wiggs’ face – he had the coolest costume in San Clemente. Next year, we’ll enter a contest. Maybe we’ll win some money!

The Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo stepped it up huge for their 2nd annual event. Held on October 11 & 12, 2008 at the Wyland Exhibit Hall, a much larger venue from last year, they added more big name characters and popular shapers to their seminar list. Even surf icon Gerry Lopez showed up today!
With a stellar introduction by the surf industry’s greatly respected Sam George, Drew’s demonstration drew over 100 people again this year, and some fans came from as far as San Francisco to get themselves educated on paint pen techniques. Drew just got some great tubes down in Puerto Escondido, The Mexican Pipeline! He got a wild hair & decided to enter into a stand up paddleboard contest. To check the scores, click on Duane DeSoto’s blog.
Puerto is on the southern Pacific coast of Mexico in the state of Oaxaca – about 220 miles south of Acapulco. Playa Zicatela is known for it’s huge barrels — Drew’s always loved those Puerto barrels….

Continental Airlines IS SO MESSED UP! BIG TIME!
We were flying home Monday from Myrtle Beach. Our first flight was 6 hours late, so we missed our connecting flight to LAX in Newark. Continental guy “Christopher” says “oh, we can’t get you out of Newark until Wednesday!”
And then proceeded to tell us that Continentals “only obligation to us is to get passengers from point A to point B safely” and not to do anything else, like, say, get us a place to sleep?
Oh, but our LUGGAGE made it to LA on Monday. So, we had to wear the same clothes for a few days…..BUT WE MADE THE BEST OF IT IN REGULAR BROPHY STYLE – WE rented a car, drove to Michael Jordan’s house in Rumsen, and spent the next day in N.Y. City! (more…)
Our last tour stop on the East Coast for 2008! Drew’s tired of painting, so he tricked Al McWhite into showing up and then put him to work!
Al was cool about it, though. Although we haven’t heard from him since…….
